Deworming Recommendations

Vellore Woods Veterinary Clinic feels it is important that your pet is dewormed on a regular basis.

The following are recommended guidelines for routine deworming for cats and dogs:

Puppies and Dogs:

A fecal floatation test to detect intestinal parasites is recommended with each puppy visit and then once a year. Parasite eggs (and some parasites) are microscopic and can not be seen without this special test. Not every pet will have symptoms and can contaminate your yard quickly when they go undetected. Intestinal parasites can also be transmitted to humans with immunocompromised individuals and small children being the most at risk.
